Metso Flexi handheld terminal

The primary objective of the project was to develop a successor product to the handheld terminal connected to the Metso analyser cabinets. A demanding operating environment, ergonomic user requirements, cost-efficiency, and maintaining a unified Metso design were the pivotal factors in product development.

The project included a user survey, in which terminal users were interviewed and terminal use was monitored in the real factory environment. Moreover, the ergonomic aspects of the terminal were assessed on the basis of the predecessor product and several quickly developed prototypes. The outcome was a lighter device featuring optimal usability.
